These Brand Moves On World Environment Day Actually Hit Different

What's Poppin', Munchies!!

Today is World Environment Day and yes your feed is full of green graphics and leaf emojis. But scroll past those for a second because a few brands actually did something worth talking about today.

This week's heat · World Environment Day 2026

Mother Dairy

Mother Dairy launched India's first naturally degradable milk pouch in Delhi NCR after four years of R&D. The pouch converts into bioavailable wax which soil microbes break down naturally over time, leaving no plastic residue behind, and consumer prices stay the same. Nearly 2 million packs going out from day one, conceptualised by Ogilvy with a film soundtrack by Swanand Kirkire.

Zomato

Zomato used today to shine a light on their low plastic packaging feature, restaurants on the app that already use plastic alternatives. Over 10,000 restaurants across 500 cities are tagged and the feature has been sitting there quietly working. No big film, no press release, just pointed to something real.

Amul

Amul did what Amul always does. Hand drawn doodle, Amul girl holding up the Earth, "Earth mein anarth na hone do." Same format they have owned for decades showing up on the right day. When you have been consistent for 50 years you do not need a campaign brief, the format does the talking.

Every brand that cut through today had something real to point to, whether that was a feature already working, a format owned for decades, content worth watching, or four years of actual research. The ones that did not have any of that posted a green graphic and called it a campaign.

Spicy detail

Mother Dairy's campaign film was made using AI generated assets, and here is the irony nobody is saying out loud. AI infrastructure is one of the fastest growing contributors to carbon emissions globally right now, so the brand that genuinely spent four years solving a plastic waste problem chose to promote it with one of the least environmentally friendly content tools available in 2026. It does not cancel out the good work but it does remind you that even the brands getting it right are still figuring it out.

This week's munchie moment

The best green marketing is not a post. It is a product that still exists on June 6.
